Five stretches that will decrease your pain level while increasing your energy
1. the Cobra: lie on your stomach, legs together and palms face down under your shoulders. Press up, look up, and breath deeply. Great for low back – hold for 10-30 seconds
2. The Cat and Camel: you will be on your hands and knees; curve your back up towards the ceiling (think bring your chin to you chest and tuck your tail like a dog being scolded) Hold for a 3-6 sec count. Than arch your back tilting your head back trying to touch your head to you butt (think about getting your belly button to touch the floor)
3. Pigeon Position: sit with our knees bent, feet flat on the floor, and arms behind you for support. Bring your right ankle over to your left knee, keeping the foot flexed. walk your left foot as close to your hip as possible. you can begin more on your hip until your flexibility improves. Hold 10-60 secs and switch then repeat.
4. Frog Stretch: Get on your hands and knees; spread knees out as wide as possible with toes pointing out. Try and push your pelvis toward the ground
5. Shoulder and chest stretch: grab your hands together behind your back and raise arms up towards the ceiling as high as possible, if you are more flexible, bend at the waist and lean foward allowing your arms to follow thus increasing your shoulder mobility.
